The Asia Pacific Fragility Fracture Alliance (APFFA) has today (December 9, 2020) launched the comprehensive APFFA Education Directory, designed to connect patients, healthcare professionals, hospital administrators and policy makers in the Asia Pacific with relevant educational resources pertaining to best practice, to support optimal acute care, rehabilitation and secondary prevention of fragility fractures.
The APFFA Education Directory comprises an extensive suite of high quality, current, evidence-based resources that have been exclusively selected and categorised based on relevance to the four distinct stakeholder groups.
According to past President of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) and APFFA Education Working Group Chair, Professor Robert Blank, Sydney, the APFFA Education Directory, housed on the APFFA website, enables easy search and identification of resources by target audience, focus area, language, date, format and source organisation.
“APFFA’s Education Working Group has conducted an extensive content audit to collate resources from leading osteoporosis organisations and publications including the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), the Fragility Fracture Network (FFN), the Australian & New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry (ANZHFR), The Asia Pacific Bone Academy, International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) and The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU),” said Prof Blank.
To ensure The APFFA Directory remains relevant and up-to-date, the Directory webpage features an online form constructed to capture user feedback and suggestions for additional and newly developed content. Suggested resources undergo an extensive content audit and categorisation prior to upload, to ensure inclusion of the highest quality assets.
APFFA co-Chairs, Dato’ Dr. Joon-Kiong Lee, Malaysia and Prof Derrick Chan, Taiwan, today welcomed the launch of the APFFA Education Directory and commended the APFFA Education Working Group and Project Team for bringing the concept to fruition.
“There is an abundance of resources for the optimal screening, treatment and management of osteoporosis and fragility fractures that have been collaborated on, and developed by leading organisations, experts and key opinion leaders, in an effort to tackle the growing burden of these diseases. The APFFA Education Directory serves as a hub and portal to access these resources in an efficient and convenient way,” said Dr. Lee.
“In alignment with APFFA’s vision, to deliver effective care, fewer fractures and better outcomes for people living in Asia Pacific, we encourage users to adopt and adapt these materials based on their local needs,” Prof Chan said.
